How do you clean your floors? I have spent a good hour this morning googling and you tubing this subject with not much luck. My floors never seem clean. I am talking mainly my kitchen and bathrooms. Any advice would be appreciated!
Get a dog! They sure do help with the kitchen crumb dirt. Sorry I'm no cleaning pro. I just use a handheld vacuum with a long hose/floor attachment, then spray cleaner and wipe with a microfiber mop. There are probably better ways, so I'm anxious to hear what others have to say.
I've found that the color and texture of the floor has a LOT to do with looking clean or not.
The white tile we previously had in the kitchen ALWAYS looked dirty and the grout was a horrible pink color. (What WAS the previous owner thinking??) Anyhow, we replaced the floor in December with a white and burgundy marble and it always looks clean now, except when you walk in the sticky parts. ;)
We use a miracle cloth from solutions.com with water and a little bit of dish soap. Those things are amazing. It's green and easy.
If the floor is really dirty, I'll get down on my hands and scrub it up. If it's not, I put the cloth on a swiffer type mop and use it that way. We try to wash the kitchens on Mondays & Fridays and the bathrooms once a week, but sometimes we only get to do the kitchen once a week.
On my hands and knees once a month and the kitchen gets mopped every other day. I mop the bathrooms once a week but I wipe the floor around the toilet with a spray of Holy Cow pink every day when I wipe down the toilets. Not a deep clean...a swish swipe, and once a week a deep clean.
My kitchen floor was linolium (it didn't seem like it though) and it was an off white which would get dirty fast.
I would get on my hands and knees and scrub it a few times a year with some Mr. Clean. Then go over that with some bleach water. Didn't really make it white again though, at least not like it was when we moved in.
Our bathroom was small tiles and I would just mop it with some Mr. Clean as well.
A few times a month I would just take a disinfectant wipe and do a quick clean of the floors.
This was probably useless...lol.
Have you tried using baking soda and water and then scrubbing? Baking soda is a close friend of mine who likes to get dirt out really quick :-)

ReplyDeleteDefine clean. ;)

ReplyDeleteIt all depends on what your floor is made of.

God Bless,

You guys are great! :)
ReplyDeleteAmy, we have cats. They only help if we spill tuna!
Janel, I am going to look into the miracle cloth. It looks interesting. We wash the kitchen floors on Monday and spot clean the rest of the week.
Bren, thats what I want to do. I want to do the hands and knees thing. It just seems I make a huge mess when I do that!
Dawn, I do use baking soda in other areas. How do you get it all off the floor? It leaves a residue most of the time.
