Forgive me...

I am not happy.
Shes a wife and a mother of children not yet grown.
I don't think she belongs in the office of VP.

McCain/Palin ticket

Oh yeah, and I take these verses seriously. Not culturally. Not as an analogy. Seriously. Literally.

1 Timothy 2:9-15, "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."

Doesn't sound much like a vice presidential candidate to me.

Oh how I pray that we might not have to vote Republican right now. I hope Dh lets us vote somewhere else.

Im sure she's a great person. She chose not to abort her Down Syndrome baby. I completely admire that. It's not her I have a problem with. I don't think women belong in leadership positions over men. I was mad when Nancy Pelosi became speaker of the house. I was mad when Hilary threw her hat in the ring for President. It's hard enough raising my girls to be women in this world where anything goes. Where men are snarled at and mocked everywhere you turn. Where women are expected to be the smart strong one. Marriages are a partnership with no leader. "I can do anything you can do better!" a girl sings to a boy. The whole biblical model of men and women is being destroyed in front of my girls. Men aren't better than women and women aren't better then men. BUT God is His infinite wisdom gave us a model to follow. Priorities to cling to. Now we mock them. I just don't understand.

  1. I was extremely disappointed in his choice for a VP even though I don't know a thing about her. You're right, women just don't belong in leadership.

  2. I was sitting down checking email when I saw your comment my Lori! I just had to respond.

I was not happy when I heard the announcement. I had to vent. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. I think its more fun when we disagree because it makes us all search for the answers.

That being said. I see your point perfectly Lori.
I personally don't believe women should be in authority over men. My husband has three women bosses. So obviously this is not something we stand so firmly on that Dh is going to quit his job. :)
I will not be voting for Obama. I have not been happy with having to vote with McCain who I think is too liberal in some ways, but this just took the cake for me.
Can you be a VP with and be shamefaced, sober, modest? OR do you have to be forceful, tough, and sometimes just plain mean?
I am glad she has five children. IMO those children need her with them more than I need her to help run the country.
I don't think its a sin to vote for her. I don't think its a sin for her to run. I just don't think its the best. There were plenty of strong men in the background that could have been chosen for this position.
Im sure I will be voting for this duo. I will vote how DH votes. I just don't think its the best.

And for the record I have been ready to dismiss the republicans for awhile. LOL :)

Love ya, Lori!! You know that!

Lisa, thanks for commenting. Everything I have read about her is outstanding. I would love to be her friend. Just not vote for her. :)

  3. I agree with you, but yet I understand where Lori is coming from too. This is the first election that DH and I are considering not casting a vote for US President.

  4. I was somewhat pleased when I heard that she was considered "Ultraconservative" as I don't consider McCain to be very conservative. Then I heard them say she was a member of Feminists for Life- whatever that is; sounds like an oxymoron to me.

I can't vote for Obama, especially after he bungled answering the question: When do you think the rights of a baby begin? At the very least he could have said at birth---too late but he said that answer was above his paygrade!

I'm sure there are a lot of democrats/liberals that think conservatives only care about pro-life versus 'choice', but it colors how one sees the rights of all persons and the value they place upon all life.

    Anywho.... pretty scarey either way.

  5. Hi Julie,

What a refreshing blog post! I thought I was the only one!! On my blog I have received almost all hate mail over this issue!

Your comment on my blog was a breath of fresh air and I'm so happy to finally find someone who agrees with me! Thank you for standing up for what is true and what is right!!

  6. You say you hope you don't have to vote republican. You would vote for Obama?

  7. I agree with your post.
    But this is my thoughts..
Yes, McCain and Palain may not be the BEST choice for Republican leaders. But since they are in the leader position and there is nobody else reblican to chose from, then I feel as Christians we absolutely, without a doubt, should vote for him. We cant vote for Obama and if we decide not to vote at all, would be even worse because if McCain doesnt get every vote he can possibly get, Obama will win.
So if anything, vote for McCain so Obama wont win.
If Obama wins, your country as well as mine, is in for a terrible, terrible mess. I can go into all the reasons why that will be but its too long LOL
So yeah, I hear ya, totally, and we agree. Its just like I said, ya have to vote for someone, and out of the 3, McCain is best.
If Obama wins it because of a few votes more than McCain it would be terrible... you will see abortions become more common than ever before, and all kinds of stuff like that. And the US will no longer be a powerful leader that it needs to be.
Im not able to vote, as Im in Canada LOL but it affects my country like you wouldnt believe.
So Id encouareg everyone to exercise their right to vote and vote for McCain being he is the only choice right now.
Maybe in the future, some godly men will step up and get into politics and we will have better choices... but for now, McCain..

    HUgs,
    Candy :)

  8. This is a very interesting subject. I too believe that a mother should be home with her children. I don't want to sound like I'm attacking her but I wonder if she had been at home instead of leading her state if her daughter would have become pregnant out of wedlock (God bless that young couple for making the right decision in these times of "choice", I pray that young girl and her soon to be young husband find health, happiness, and prosperity as a family).

I think it's important to remember that Queen Victoria inspired the men around her to make that "Victorian Era" a "Golden Era". Can Ms. Palin inspire? I pray she can.

  9. Clarification.

We will not be voting for Obama. BUT if that's who my husband voted for I would be.
God has called me to be subject to my husband in everything. To me that means in who to vote for as well. Kind of falls under that everything catagory. :)
God wants to see my heart not my ballot. I am being obedient to Him by being obedient to my husband. Thats what God has called me to!

  10. This is my first time reading your blog...I hope that's okay! I have had these very same thoughts and it was refreshing to hear another young mom feel the same way. God bless you as you follow the path He leads you down. And let us always remember the HE is the one in control. It is all in His hands and not ours.
