Modesty

Ok I have a ton to say on this topic but I thought I would start by just simply answering a question I recieved.

I'm just wondering...how do you dress? there is alot of talk about modesty dressing in dresses and such...I would love to know your perspective!
I wear mostly dresses/skirts. There are days when I pull on a pair of pants. I dont look down on others wearing pants. My girls are allowed to choose what they want to wear. My three year old wears dresses about 3-4 times a week. Thats what she picks. My four year old picks dresses almost everyday! Ok unless I ask her to wear a pair of pants.. because I have not done laundry and she does not have a clean school dress... she will pick a dress or skirt. My eight year old I never know which way she is going to go. I like to wear skirts. I like the femininity (is that right?) of it all! I like to show that, "Yes, I am a woman and grateful for the role God has given me." The rule I have for myself and my girls is that skirts and dresses have to at least fall to the knee. NOW I did make an exception with my two girls. The only thing we could find halfway appropriate for school were skirts with shorts underneath. I bought them each a size larger than what they wear and they fall just above the knee BUT they are below fingertip which is the rule I have with shorts for the girls. I would love to post pictures of us throughout the week in skirts and dresses the way other ladies have lately but our digital camara is broken and I have to wait until Christmas. I have borrowed my mom's a few times but she likes to have it back occasionally. :)
Anyways I believe as women of God we are to dress modestly. I dont know that that means wear skirts/dresses everyday but I believe it does mean we are to be covered. We should not be showing off parts of our body that are meant just for our husbands. I am a big chested woman. For awhile I was very self conscience of that then one day in my late teens early twenties I noticed that I was buying shirts and outfits that showed off this "feature". I was doing it to emphasize what I had. This was not right or godly. Now I am more careful. I thought until recently I was going to have to live with shirts that were too low cut and just keep them pulled up constantly because thats the only shirts I could find. Imagine my gratefulness when I discovered...LAYERING! HALLALUJAH! You can take a lovely camisole and layer it underneath a shirt that is cut too low and have a nice outfit that does not expose your chest. Too many women are proud to show off thier cleavage. I have come to believe that when we as Christians do this we are putting stumbling blocks in front of our brothers. Face it in today's world our men already have to walk around with thier eyes closed to avoid the temptation that ladies are wearing.. its even worse at church to see some young girl on stage singing praises to God half naked.
God says we are to be adorned with a meek and quiet spirit.
1 Peter 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1 Peter 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

How can we have a meek and quiet spirit when our goodies are hanging out for all to see?
This is just my two cents. I am sure not everyone agrees with me. I just know that if I am sitting across the table from Jesus I sure dont want to worry about whether HE has to avert his eyes from me because of the way I am dressed.
