I love this guy!

Can I just say that I was so amazed at how he stood up for the Bible. I have seen Christian leaders get on these programs who would backpeddle and pansy out. Not VB! He rocked.
And please tell me what kind of argument was Ms. Feinberg trying to make with Ephesians 5? It was a little weird to me.
One day I will meet Mr. Baucham and ask him if I can give him a hug. I hope he says yes! :)

  1. Actually what saddens me the most is that is appears to me that CNN is making sport of evangelicals and their differing beliefs. Trying to pit 2 schools of interpretation against each other to detract from the real issues here.

I have more to say but I will save it and see what some of you have to offer. :)

p.s. I understood what she was saying about Ephesians 5. Made perfect sense to me. I am not saying whether I agree or disagree with her. I am just saying that she conveyed her point clearly.

p.s. Thank-you for the award. It will go on my blog within a few days. :)

    I love you too.

  2. I understood what she was saying with Epheians 5. I just think it was completely off base. Christ did not give himself as a sacrifice so that the church would lead itself. Christ is the leader of the church (believers).

I just love how Ephesians 5:22-25 are not even mentioned. (v 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.)

In verse 32, it shows how the relationship between believeing husband and wife illustrates the relationship between Christ (bridegroom) and the church (bride).

The church is not the head of Christ, neither should the wife be the head (or leader) of the husband.

Julie, you have given me a lot to think about. Some of your previous posts are very thought provoking. Thanks.

In our culture, it is so turn around.

  3. Thank you for your comments.

Angela, Ms. Feinberg really threw me when she talked about VB's narrow interpretation of the scripture. I thought that was just wrong of her. He was not narrowly interpreting scripture he was quoting it like it was. Black and white. I loved the fact that he refused to back down from what he was saying. I would love to see more preacher's on CNN boldly proclaiming the scriptures. Not like Osteen who gets on Larry King and spews just heresy.
I think her argument was completely illogical. Even my dd, 11, was like, what? What does that have to do with whether she should be a leader or not..
Ending with a smiley so you know I still love ya! :)

dottie, HEY! Welcome to my little home on the internet. I think she was off base as well. Thanks for saying that so much better than I have been able to ;)
Vs. 24 is my favorite..so controversial! You probably know that though. LOL
BTW, we are back to meeting together on Tuesdays if you want to join us. It's nice at the restaurant since school started. LOL

  4. Julie, I have heard the argument for what she is saying in it's entirety as I have a very good IRL friend who believes as she does. I have to honestly say...there is some validity when you hear the ENTIRE argument and look at the Scriptures as a whole.

I think that men ARE the head of the households, no question about that. However, I DO also think that men and women are to submit to one another. Men are to lay down their lives for their wives and I don't believe that this is just in a figurative way.

We don't know all the circumstances...what if Sarah's husband felt that God wanted to use his wife during this season and that God wanted him to lay aside his desires and let his wife fulfill what God was calling her to do? I don't know if that's what happened but we don't know that it didn't happen as I am saying.

Also, I looked up what he was talking about in Isaiah 3. I'm not sure that I agree with his interpretation of that passage. I saw another one at first glance. So, I'm definitely going to study that and pray and see what God shows me.

I used to be SO rigid in what I thought in certain areas. I used to think that some things were heresy because I'd never honestly listened to what some other Christians were saying about it not being heresy but a different interpretation. I am willing, now, after hearing the entire point of view that there is a possibility that I am not totally correct.

I DEFINITELY don't buy into the feminist thinking. It's really hard to explain on line. Things get so confusing here. :)

And, no, when we meet I will NOT want to discuss it either probably. We will be having too much fun laughing at each other, watching the kids, and talking about the things we DO agree on. :)

    Love, Angela :)
